About Geekie

Who we are, who we work for and what a collaboration looks like.

What exactly does Geekie Creative & IT do?

We are a one-stop shop for everything digital within your business. On the technical side we handle web development, webshops on Shopify and WordPress, SEO, IT support, managed IT and advice on AI and automation. On the creative side we do business photography, product photography and social media management. That gives you one point of contact instead of five separate suppliers.

What kind of businesses do you work for?

We focus on small and medium-sized businesses and on sole traders with commercial ambitions. Think builders, plumbers, installers and other tradespeople, as well as practices, hospitality, retail, consultancies and manufacturers. Usually these are organisations of one to fifty people without an IT department or a content or social team of their own.

Which region do you cover?

Our home base is Rotterdam and we work throughout Rotterdam and the surrounding area, including Schiedam, Capelle aan den IJssel and Barendrecht. Remote work we do across the whole of the Netherlands. For on-site work we look at what is practical case by case.

Do I have to buy everything from you, or can I pick one service?

You decide how far you go. Some clients only have a website built, others hand over their entire IT and online presence. Our starting point is that you get what you need, and above all not what you do not need.

Why would I put IT and online visibility with the same supplier?

Because the two are inseparable. Your website, your imagery, your search visibility and the technology underneath all have to fit together. With separate suppliers, problems tend to turn into finger-pointing. With us the responsibility sits in one place, which saves you time and argument.

Who are the people behind Geekie?

Geekie was founded by Joep de Kok. He handles the technical side, with years of experience in IT support and ten years of building websites, and also delivers photography in-house for websites and social media.

Websites and visibility

Questions about our packages, timelines and SEO.

Which website packages do you offer?

We work with three packages. Start is a compact one-pager for businesses that want to be online quickly and look the part. Growth is a complete website with multiple pages, content management, in-depth SEO and data insights. Bespoke is fully custom, with unlimited revisions, animations, chatbots and automation.

What does a website cost?

Our Start page, a complete one-pager, has a fixed price of €290 excl. VAT. Growth, the complete website, starts from €795 and Bespoke, fully custom work, from €1195. The final price depends on scope and requirements, but is always fixed before we start. After a short conversation we know enough to put together a concrete proposal with a clear price and a firm delivery date.

I am a self-employed builder or plumber. Is a website worth it for me?

For tradespeople especially, it is. Someone who needs a plumber, painter or builder picks up their phone and calls one of the first companies they see. With a fast page that ranks well locally, with clear services, photos of your work and a call button, you win that job more often. Our €290 Start page is often all you need, and we arrange everything: no technical skills required on your side.

How long does it take to build a website?

A one-pager is normally live within a few weeks. A complete website takes longer, depending on the number of pages, the copy and the imagery. For bespoke work we set out a schedule with clear phases in advance, so you always know where we stand.

What do unlimited revisions actually mean?

With the Bespoke package we keep adjusting the design until it is right. No debate about a third or fourth round of changes. We do not think you should have to pay to fix something that should have been right the first time.

Can my existing website be improved instead of replaced?

Often, yes. We first check whether the foundation is sound. Sometimes speed gains, better copy, new imagery and technical SEO already achieve a great deal. If the foundation is outdated, rebuilding works out cheaper in the long run than repairing forever. We will tell you honestly what we would do.

Do you also handle hosting and maintenance?

Yes. We can take care of hosting, updates, backups and security so your website stays fast and safe. You are also free to keep this in your own hands, in which case we provide a clean handover and a proper explanation.

What does SEO optimisation involve at Geekie?

For us SEO starts in the engineering: fast loading times, a logical structure, correct headings, clean code and structured data. On top of that we optimise the copy for the search terms your customers genuinely use, and we make sure your business is easy to find locally.

What is SEO for AI and why does it matter?

More and more people no longer ask Google but ChatGPT or another AI assistant which company they should call. Those assistants read websites and recommend businesses they can understand well: clear copy, structured data and a technically sound site. We build websites from the first line of code so that both Google and AI assistants can read them properly. That keeps you findable as search changes.

Can you build a webshop as well?

Yes. We build webshops on Shopify or WordPress with a custom-coded front end, also known as headless. You get the reliable checkout and management of those platforms, but without the limitations and sluggishness of a standard theme. The result is a webshop that loads faster, ranks better and is built to sell more. Improving or maintaining an existing webshop is possible too.

What are data insights and what do I get out of them?

We show you how many visitors you get, where they come from, which pages are working and where people drop off. We use that to make adjustments. It turns your website into an instrument you can steer with, rather than a digital business card.

Can you add a chatbot or automation?

Yes. Think of a chatbot that handles frequently asked questions, automated quote requests, links to your calendar, or forms that feed straight into your admin. We always check first whether it genuinely saves you time.

IT support and managed IT

How our business support works.

How does IT support by phone work?

You or your staff call in during office hours or raise a ticket for any IT problem or question. We look over your shoulder through a secure connection and resolve it there and then. That works quickly for software, settings, email, accounts and most faults, without anyone having to come out.

What if a problem cannot be fixed remotely?

Then we come out to you. On-site support combines with phone support: if remote does not do it, we are at your door for things like printer problems, hardware faults or network issues. There is always a safety net, whatever the problem turns out to be.

Do you come out to our premises?

Certainly. For network problems, cabling, installing equipment and rolling out new workstations we come to you. Some things simply cannot be fixed from behind a screen.

What exactly is managed IT?

With managed IT we take structural responsibility for your IT environment. Think user management, updates, backups, security, licences, monitoring and being the point of contact for your staff. After that it is no longer something you have to think about.

Can you help with rolling out new equipment or a new network?

Yes. In a rollout project we handle the complete setup: preparing devices, configuring accounts and permissions, migrating data and getting your staff up to speed with instructions and floorwalking. The equipment can come through us or from elsewhere. We also build complete networks, with access points, switches, cabling and the right security and permissions. Afterwards we can optionally keep maintaining and monitoring it.

Do you carry out repairs?

With Geekie we focus entirely on business services: support, management and advice. One-off hardware repairs are not part of that. If equipment fails we advise on replacement and make sure you can get back to work as quickly as possible.

What can AI realistically do for my business?

Usually more than business owners expect, and in different places than they expect. Think automatic processing of quotes and invoices, a chatbot that intercepts questions, help with drafting copy, or intelligent search across your own documents. We look first at where you lose time, and only then at the technology.

Photography and social media

About imagery and content.

Why does original photography matter?

Everyone recognises stock photos by now, and they say nothing about your business. Original imagery of your team, your premises and your work builds trust and makes you recognisable. On top of that you can use it everywhere: on the website, in your webshop and on social media.

What does social media management involve?

Together we set the strategy and the tone, we build a content calendar, produce the posts and imagery, publish everything and respond to comments and messages. Each month we go through the results and adjust where needed.

Can photography and the website be combined?

That is precisely our strength. We shoot the imagery with the website and your social channels already in mind, in the right proportions and style. Everything then fits together and you are not left making do with material that was never quite right.

Rates and working together

How we make agreements about money and terms.

How do your rates work?

We work with fair, transparent rates. You know where you stand in advance, whether it is a project at a fixed price or support by the hour or by the month. We never bill you for anything you did not ask for.

Am I tied into a long-term contract?

No. For ongoing services such as managed IT or social media we work with clear agreements you can cancel. We would rather you stayed because you are happy than because you are locked in.

What happens at the first meeting?

We arrange a conversation on site or online, free of charge and with no obligation. We ask about your business, your current situation and your ambitions. You then receive a concrete proposal with a clear price and schedule. We only start once you have agreed.

How quickly do you respond to a question or a fault?

We normally reply to enquiries through the website within one working day. For clients on an ongoing agreement we set response times in advance, so you know exactly what you can count on when something goes wrong.

Cannot find your question here?

Do ask it. You will normally have a personal answer within one working day, even if that answer is that we cannot help you.

Curious what could work better for you?

Book a call with no strings attached. We take a look, ask the sharp questions and tell you honestly what we would do. Even if that means you are better off changing nothing for now.
